The LP2 house is located on a flat terrain in a wooded area in the outskirts of Guatemala City. Although the design requirements were very abundant, the main goal was to generate a dialogue between vegetation and the volumetry of the house, and express that communion.
Divided in two stories, the lower floor is destined to the social area and services. Interior spaces were generated in the same proportions as the outdoors to create a balance. Contrast was also managed through the type of materials including tougher materials in the interior and softer in the exterior.
Wooden floors contrast with the exposed concrete of the walls. Since this is a cold area, there is a fireplace at the center of the social area combining with concrete stairs and furniture poured in situ to generate warmness with the exterior.
All the existing trees were kept and are located in important places according to the design of the house . The trunks of some trees are embraced by some structural elements, The house also is perforated in Order to produce skylights providing luminosity to the house.
